State Order of Finland
Finland is a republic where individual freedom and representative democracy are realised. And as the system is parliamentary, the members of the State Council (valtioneuvosto) must enjoy the confidence of the Parliament (eduskunta).
Main concepts of the State Order are set out in Articles 1-3 of the Constitution.
Finland is a sovereign #republic where the inviolability of human dignity and the freedom and rights of the individual are guaranteed. / §1.
The power of the state in Finland belongs to the people, who are represented by the Parliament. / § 2, #democracy (kansanvaltaisuus).
Legislative power is exercised by the Parliament, which also decides on the state budget. The President of the Republic and the Council of State, whose members must enjoy the confidence of the Parliament, exercise governmental power. / § 3, division of state functions and #parliamentarism
