Humanity's Opportunity
(Ensimmäinen versio suomeksi osoitteessa https://t.me/incoloursandvibrations/9)
Every person and their immediate community should understand that they are part of humanity and nature – and begin to identify what might be the very long-term common tasks of humanity.
As the world's spiritual and material currents continue to strengthen, it is not good to cling to national settings alone, even if nation-states and nationalism are not disappearing.
Nor is it a good idea to cling to civilisations with different values and traditions when the great cultures seem to be pressing against each other. But civilisations are not disappearing either.
I understand that the whole premise of a common mission for humanity is fanciful and very hopeful. We are, after all, an unpredictable human species of over 8 billion individuals, simultaneously preserving and ruthlessly destroying life and habitats. The species also maintains various ethical traditions regarding, for example, beliefs and human rights.
But it still seems that an image of all people's contribution to a better future for the Earth should be created. After all, there are possibilities in the direction of the good, the right and the beautiful. This path should not be closed.
That is why I think that the human condition can perhaps be most comprehensibly framed in terms of a common mission statement for the future.
Tasks
The most difficult task is probably to prevent wars of aggression and maintain security. Attack and armed violence should be prevented.
What could be the common ethical and moral basis of peace for mankind? This would seem to call for new thinking.
All information technology and artificial intelligence in all fields and in communication should be put on a human-serving track. This could be another major task, which means raising the level of education and civilisation.
Information and communication technologies can enable everyone in the world to participate in debate and learning. Procedures for communication, language translation, trust and, in time, even human governance (law) can be built into the technology of software and algorithms.
Perhaps the most profound issue is the appreciation of nature. Humans and their technologies and economies should be seen as part of Creation, and people should act accordingly.
A third task could be for every human individual and community to humbly understand that they are a member of Creation, a part of nature.
Opportunity
All this seems to be primarily about the common civilisation and ethics of humanity. But perhaps its emergence would sooner lead to action and have an impact on intergovernmental and regional cooperation organisations of our time, too.
The system of nation states on the one hand and the common power of the people of the world on the other need not be in conflict, even if the justification for action comes from different sources (peoples and states on the one hand and humanity on the other). Defined tasks can, of course, be distributed naturally between different levels (vertically).
A common vision of the tasks will not be formed in a decade or two, perhaps never. But I think it is a good idea to take a liberated approach from so far in the future that we are certainly on a different and meaningful path compared to the horrors of today.
So I hope that the people who are born now will see a world of shared defence of peace, civilised communication and a life in Creation. Now we can only imagine this in our minds.
