Future republics, future morality?
The individual, with rights and obligations, is held accountable for one's actions before God and the law. Conscience also guides individuals to live a good and righteous life.
This is valuable in Western Christian culture and in a public republican system (res publica).
Can we keep and maintain the republics of individuals, this earthly system?
In the republics, individual citizens have all the power to handle any situation. Do they?
The representatives in parliaments use the power they get from individual voters for the good of nations. Do they know that people want peace?
Governments, prime ministers, working under representatives of individuals (parliamentarism), and also presidents of states, have all the means of politics and diplomacy to end wars and terror. Do they?
Something is deeply wrong in the democracies and republics as of now.
Ethics? Morality? The way ahead?
